Good News

I spoke to my neighbor this morning. She is having a very difficult time since being diagnosed with mesothelioma. Beyond all of her health concerns, she was turned down for Social Security disability. Fortunately she didn't stop there and hired a lawyer. She got the news this week that she has been approved. I am so thrilled for her, I know it takes a lot off of her mind. She was so worried about her husband having to try and pay all of the bills himself. They needed some good news.

I'm Bad

I know I'm bad. My evil sense of humor gets the best of me sometimes.

I just read about the explosion at a North Carolina food plant today. Several people were seriously injured. That is terrible news, and I feel for them and their families.

Here's the part that's bad. It was as a Slim Jim meat products plant. There's a problem now with toxic gas in the area....when there's Slim Jims involved, isn't there always toxic gas in the area? :)

Yard Sale

My neighbor behind me asked if she could have a yard sale at my house this weekend. I am on a busier street and have a large driveway area and front yard. She told me that she would pay me 20% of the proceeds for having it here. I responded that maybe I would seem something I'd like instead and she was happy with that. She has two tv stands that I have my eye on and I think she is planning to sell them. I hope so!

Safety Concerns

My parents are getting older, they are in their late 70's. My brother and I are becoming increasingly concerned about their safety around the house. My father is having difficulty walking due to knee problems. He and my mother are being very adamant about staying in their home so we are planning to do some upgrades. First on my list is installing hand rails for bathroom safety. After than I want to put in a ramp in the back. The stairs are very tricky there. Hopefully this will help them stay put longer.

You Never Know What You're Going To Catch

My husband fishes a lot in the Gulf of Mexico. We are always joking about him being careful not to get bombed. The military has several large bases here and practices bombing in the gulf. I just read that a fisherman pulled up a live air to air missile from the gulf about 50 miles south of Panama City Beach. Here's the good part, he kept it on his boat for 10 days! Did you catch the part about it being live?! When he finally called someone they had to bring in a bomb squad to detonate it. It was said to be very unstable. Now that's a lucky fisherman.
