I just spoke to my college roommate. It was upsetting to hear that she has lost her job of 10 years. The company that she worked for couldn't survive the economy and closed unexpectedly. She has two teenagers and she is very worried. At least her husband's job seems to be secure. She's looking at admin jobs but she says there is not much out there. Now her dilemma is figuring out what else is she qualified for. So sad.
I heard yesterday that they arrested a man who is suspected of being the Craigslist killer. Not only is he a supposedly mild mannered premed student, his last name is Markoff. What's with the sudden onset of Markoff's in the news? Is there some sort of mutated gene coming out? We just had a local man accused of murder with that name. I'm glad it's not mine.
Have you noticed the commercials on TV lately? It's funny how they reflect society and what is going on at the time. Most of the mortgage company ads are gone. Now it seems that all we are left with are cars, cleaning aids and ads for acne treatments. Those aren't too bad, but I am really getting tired of seeing Billy Mays and all of his circus huckster friends tell us how much we need their products. If I hear "But wait!" one more more I may be ill.
